Pedal Power – the Community e-bike LOAN scheme for Stroud District

Gill Thomas @ Mouse About Town

Transition Stroud and social enterprise The Bike Drop have worked together to run an e-bike loan project across Stroud District in collaboration with the many Climate Action Networks, community groups and cycling enthusiasts in our region. Now expanded to 17 e-bikes with pick-up points in Stonehouse, Stroud, Brimscombe, Minchinhampton, and Horsley, this project makes it easy to try out an e-bike for yourself.

Reserve one for yourself on our booking site and one of our amazing volunteers will sign a bike out to you!

Our community partners for our e-bike loan pilot projects

Together, we are running e-bike loan hubs in Minchinhampton, Stonehouse and Brimscombe, with more pick-up options and locations planned in future.

You can reserve an e-bike on our on online booking site here.

Get involved

All three partners are open to taking on new local volunteers to help the scheme run smoothly. Email us to volunteer with one of our community groups.

This project is being run by Transition Stroud and The Bike Drop in collaboration with our community partners. We are very grateful for the financial support of Stroud District Council’s Active Travel fund, The National Lottery Community Fund (distributed by Transition Together), Brimscombe & Thrupp Parish Council, MinchCAN and Stonehouse Town Council, and the Rural England Prosperity Fund.

We have additional funding from Gloucestershire County Council to provide a further 10 e-bikes for our community. Hurrah and thank you to all our supporters and funders.

For an introduction to the project and our key proposals, please see these presentation slides from our November 2023 information event (links to video recording).
